Warhammer and miniatures
I want to build, paint, and battle
Warhammer is model-building, painting, and tabletop battles in one hobby. You buy a box of miniatures, assemble and paint them your way, then fight tactical battles at our long table. Nobody starts good at painting. Everybody starts.
Start around $40 with a single unit box in a faction whose look you like, plus a pot or two of paint. Ready to commit? A Combat Patrol box (about $145) is a complete legal army in one purchase, and the faction on the front is the right way to choose.
Magic, Pokemon, One Piece, Riftbound
I want a card game
Trading card games are cheap to start and deep forever. Pokemon is the easiest to learn and great for kids. Magic is the deepest and has the biggest table here. One Piece and Riftbound (the League of Legends card game) are the new-school picks with fast-growing crowds.
Start around $15 to $40 with one starter deck for the game whose art or show you already like, plus a booster pack for the fun of it. A starter deck is a complete deck. You can play the night you buy it.
Events, leagues, and the long table
I just want game night
You do not need to own anything to show up. The calendar runs leagues, casual nights, and learn-to-play events most days of the week (fees are listed on each event and many are free). Come empty-handed, tell the counter you are new, and someone will get you into a game.
First $0: claim a seat online at any event and just show up. The taproom keeps the table fed after five.
